Rev. Dr. Paul H. Lee

Rev. Dr. Paul H. Lee was born in South Korea, and his journey with God has taken him to places he never imagined. From an early age, he felt a calling to ministry, which led him to serve as a missionary in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and India. These experiences shaped his understanding of God’s global mission, as he witnessed the power of the gospel to transcend cultural and geographical boundaries. Through his time in these countries, he learned the importance of listening, learning, and sharing the love of Christ with people from all walks of life.

For over 25 years, he has been blessed to serve as a pastor both in South Korea and the United States. During this time, he’s come to embrace a theologically progressive perspective while practicing a ministry that is rooted in traditional values. His ministry philosophy centers on being inclusive to a wide spectrum of people and creating a space where everyone feels welcome. At the heart of everything he does is Jesus Christ—His teachings, His example, and His love are the foundation of his work.

Rev. Dr. Lee is proud to serve as an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, and he has been actively involved at the district, conference, and general conference levels. Through these roles, he’s had the opportunity to work alongside other clergy and church leaders to ensure that the United Methodist Church remains a place where people can grow in faith, experience radical hospitality, and pursue justice in their communities.

He earned Master of Divinity (M. Div) at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and Doctor of Ministry (D.Min) at Boston University, focusing on “Radical Hospitality and Divine Friendship: the Core Aspects of a Missional Church.” He believes these are core aspects of what it means to be a missional church. At Sterling Wesley United Methodist Church, we strive to create an environment where everyone feels loved and accepted, where relationships are nurtured, and where the grace of God is freely given to all who seek it. he is passionate about creating spaces of hospitality—both within the church and out in the community—where people can experience the transforming power of God’s friendship.

Serving Sterling Wesley United Methodist Church has been one of the greatest honors of his life. This congregation is filled with loving, dedicated people who are passionate about growing in faith and serving the wider community. Whether it’s through worship, mission projects, or simply sharing life together, the people of Sterling Wesley UMC continually inspire him with their commitment to living out the gospel.

Our church has a long history of serving the Sterling community, and Rev. Dr. Lee is excited about the ways God is leading us into the future. Together, we are working to build a church that is not only rooted in tradition but also open to new possibilities for ministry. His hope is that Sterling Wesley UMC will always be a place where people can encounter the love of Christ and be empowered to share that love with others.

We look forward to continuing this journey with you as we seek to love God and love our neighbors.
